Shop Local, Give Back at the SECOR CARES Holiday Craft Fair

For Parker resident Marcia, last year’s SECOR Cares Holiday Craft Fair came at just the right time.

Marcia sold handmade afghans at her booth that was part of the inaugural craft fair. Her sales totaled $250, which was money she desperately needed.

“I can’t tell you how much it helped me out,” Marcia said. “It helped me pay a bill that I wasn’t going to be able to pay.”

This year, 78-year-old Marcia is coming back to the craft fair and she’s bringing expanded offerings to her booth.

She’ll be selling crocheted baby blankets, cozy afghans, and a Colorado beanie.

A few items that Marcia will be selling at the craft fair.

She’ll also have a Christmas quilt, glass dishes and beaded necklaces, and even a mermaid-tail blanket that lets children tuck their feet into and pretend to splash.

We hope you’ll join us to see Marcia’s wares, and handmade items from other guests, at our offices at 17151 Pine Lane in Parker from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24. The suggested donation to attend is $5 or two cans of food.

And we’ll be offering tours of our warehouse so you can learn more how EACH WEEK, we feed 500 households in our free food market, in addition to packing 2,000 bags of food to send home in the backpacks of local schoolchildren, and more!

Marcia’s story is why this craft fair matters. It’s not just a place to shop for unique gifts – it’s a way for SECOR guests to earn money and connect with their community.

All booths are run by guests of SECOR, and they keep every dollar of their sales with no booth fees thanks to the generous sponsorship of Wings Credit Union.

“At SECOR, we provide a network of resources designed to address our guests’ immediate needs while helping them move toward self-sufficiency,” said Brie Dilley, executive director of SECOR Cares. “Our craft fair is one way we help our guests share their talents while earning money, giving them a hand up rather than a hand out.”
